ARCHIVE Remortgaging hits a seven year high

According to latest research by LMS, monthly remortgage lending rose to a seven year high in January 2016. In fact, remortgage lending rose to £6.2 billion in January 2016 which is a rise of 49% from £4.2 billion from the previous month.

This was reported on the Your Mortgage Website in January*.

What this means for home owners

Adam Nanson, Independent Mortgage Broker at Your Mortgage Expert comments:

“It’s great news that so many people are taking advantage of the low interest rates and remortgaging their properties. The research by LMS very much reflects our experience, with many of our clients finding this a good time to switch and fix their mortgage deals in order to save money on their monthly repayments.”

THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE SECURING OTHER DEBTS AGAINST YOUR HOME. YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON YOUR MORTGAGE. SECURING SHORT TERM DEBTS AGAINST YOUR HOME COULD INCREASE THE TERM OVER WHICH THEY ARE PAID AND THEREFORE INCREASE THE OVERALL AMOUNT PAYABLE. YOU MAY HAVE TO PAY AN EARLY REPAYMENT CHARGE TO YOUR EXISTING LENDER IF YOU REMORTGAGE.
